Big Shanty 

Big Shanty is an Adirondack Camp built more than 100 years ago by Frank Hooper, who operated a garnet mine near this site in North River, New York. For the last 30 years, it has been the home away from home for the four families who are the present owners. When the owners are not in residence, Big Shanty is available for rental to large families or groups. The house has 8 bedrooms, 6 1/2 baths, and large main room with a huge stone fireplace. Paradise in the Adirondacks

Renters have access to swimming and boating on Thirteenth Lake and use of Big Shanty's private tennis court. Garnet Hill Lodge offers cross-country skiing and biking on over 50 kilometers of trails. The property is adjacent to the Adirondack Park's Siamese Ponds Wilderness area with dozens of miles of hiking trails. So, bring your adventurous spirit and be prepared for a great time in the Adirondacks!
